digital slr body Highly recommended

I've been shooting with a D200. The switch to the D700 is easy. The D200 was already really highly recommended, this is all topped by the D700.

Here are the plus points compared to my D200:
* I have at ISO 3200 (photographed in the cathedral in Munster). The recordings show little noise and are really brilliant in the sharpness. Here are opening entirely new possibilities.
* The larger viewfinder images just (full format as in the good old F100) compared to a DX camera is for me really as a wearer of improvement.
* The autofocus with 15 cross-type sensors are very accurate and fast. It cans be (I have a football game) photographed wanting for nothing. Here was the D200, with its single cross sensor (of course, plus 10 additional sensors) sometimes overwhelmed.
* The display is really at the top.
* For tabletop and the life-view is as a final check before the start of great help.
* With the built-in bubble level I've only played a little bit, but could also help me with a straight horizon.
Lastly, 85mm * 85mm ... again and on my 14-24mm, I'm also curious to see the first shots are promising.

I am curious how the photozone.de Nikkors on FX sensor is evaluated (page currently under construction).

One thing is really annoying: Nikon takes a natural right back the money from his pocket, because the fix requires, Capture NX to NX 2 (otherwise it does not work) with the RAW files.

And one caused such a great camera also ..... Nikon is no longer necessary, e.g. The service is becoming more arrogant. My father stood with his D300 with Nikon in Dusseldorf at the bar and only had to argue out weather the service in Cologne, Norderstedt (near Hamburg) is responsible.

However I will not complain, the D700 has earned its 5 stars.

The Canon EOS 40D camera is now my third digital SLR. After entry into the exciting photo with a Canon EOS 350D and modified with the EOS 400D (with whom have? Brigens both very satisfied) has now arrived with the EOS 40D EF-S 17-85mm IS USM kit.

My change of 400D to 40D took place at the moment, and the new EOS 450D is already ERH? Was ltlich. Granted, the 450D has 2 megapixels more Aufl? Solution, but that is at stake when the t wegschmei kit lens? (Or simply buy a housing of the mouse) and a lens at the top, finally, can cost 2 times the Kamerageh? Uses.

Incidentally, the Group has the same problem with Nikon D40/40x/60 than D80/200/300. Great pictures everyone, but only D80/200/300 is really good in hand.
This is particularly evident when the other (better to be screwed and heavier), as slow as the EF-S 18-55mm. Because of the size? And another thing: it hoods Versaut your goal is not cheap, but when? T in the sour apple and take the original Canon Geli hurts too is double the cost. Finishing and development are the best.

From D80 to D90

Those who change from D80 to D90, is the new fast-professional camera from Nikon soon familiar. In the international arena we must already look closely to detect differences. They exist, but they are discreet. Fortunately, they fit on the battery grip MB-D80, the dimensions are identical. But somehow she makes an even more processed, high-quality impression. The much-vaunted large display is estimated only about 0.5 cm higher and just under one inch wider than its predecessor, but what makes a difference. The high resolution brings a further improvement. The viewfinder is big and bright, clearly noticeable in direct comparison.

The ability to compose the photo is indeed given to live on display, but it's really hard to focus in this mode so lame that it has focused more quickly by hand! This live-view option does not you really need, at most very rare, if you work as close to the ground or overhead. Under no circumstances should this influence a purchase decision. This is just a nice gimmick. Similarly, the video option is there but really adding no means mature. Well have to play, just in case incurred moving images. Who buys but a D90, does so because of his photographic rights, not because of a video clip in moderate quality. One must realize here is that the auto focus in the film option does not work, so you have to refocus the films by hand, which hardly requires a lot of work or exercise.

Nevertheless, the properties as a digital SLR camera just before the professional segment are enormous and probably unmatched in the class. It is similar to its predecessor is sehr.Man to operate immediately at home, although we always found news. The design possibilities are even greater, the menu of the individual functions is sorted by subject, which greatly facilitated the discovery. Most importantly, the image quality of the new sensor, I think actually better, although I do not yet completed this assessment, will complement the review in due course.

Who looks the best camera body in the world under $ 1000, look no further than the D90.

Flexible multi-talented D5000 Nikon SLR digital camera (12 megapixels, Live View, HD video function) Kit + 18-105mm VR

Since the theme of my photography more and more packed, I have now decided to buy my first D-SLR and I opted for the Nikon D5000 as a kit with the Nikkor DX VR 18-200 mm. The technical details and features are adequately described, so I will confine myself to my main experience with this model.

Decision: After the same time, the new Canon EOS 500D and Nikon D5000 have come on the market, I have tested both models at a photo shop. If the picture quality I could find no relevant differences. The situation is different in feel. The Canon looks like cardboard, at least as far as the weight (with lens). Although it is quite stable processes, but there is simply nothing in his hand. Unlike the Nikon, it makes a relatively valent impression. This is due to the higher weight, and partly to the slightly textured surface. By that I selected the weight of the Nikon lens is around 1.3 kg.

The operation is a matter of taste. I think you can handle, after some familiarization with both cameras. The menu functions of the Nikon, but I liked much better. Despite the enormous variety of functions Nikon has managed to develop a clear and well-structured menu.

Topic Finder: The Canon has a minimally larger viewfinder, which is an advantage. The Nikon is to show a grid when needed, which in turn is an advantage for the D5000. In addition, the Nikon has a 11 point focus, which can also be advantageous in certain situations. The brightness of the viewfinder, I find sufficient, even at night in unlit areas, I'm easily cope with that. The representation of the focal points of the Nikon provides automatic, red with black and bright subject on dark themes.

Speed: The value for the shutter lag in my opinion is academic in nature. What counts is the practice. I have never owned such a fast camera. It is even possible under normal lighting conditions from a movement out of immediately pressing the shutter button to focus and be triggered almost immediately and the image is sharp.

Topic Screen: While the Canon at an extremely high resolution, it offers but inflexible monitor, is the panel of the Nikon rotating and swiveling, but less well resolved. Nevertheless, the 230,000-points range from loose. Since I like taking pictures from unusual perspectives, I am more sympathetic solution to the pivot. In addition, the sensitive screen on the swivel solution during transport is protected always optimal.

After I had decided on the Nikon, I have flirted briefly with the D90 the same manufacturer. The price difference is small. Because almost identical technical data I have because of the swivel screen, but then opted for the D5000. Anyone who places no value on these, however, should perhaps would rather get the D90. This offers a much larger viewfinder and features along with some additional control elements also display a shoulder.

The lens: After I was able to cover with my bridge a focal length range of 28 - 400 mm, I wanted a similar lens for my new Nikon. In various forums, etc. After I was able to obtain some opinions, I opted for the expensive solution: Original bildstabilisiertes NX VR Nikkor lens with focal length 18 - 200 mm (approx. 800 euros). Due to magnification factor of 1.5, this corresponds to the D5000 a focal length of 27 - 300 mm, ie wide angle to super telephoto. Available as a kit with a price advantage.

Of the image quality of this lens, I am very pleasantly surprised. I knew that here I must make compromises, but all the more surprised me, the achievable quality. Perhaps this is because that the D5000 recognizes the-camera lens and out of distortion, etc. counts (feature must be activated). Particularly surprised me, however, the macro capability! The minimum focusing distance cm is indicated at 50. That's true, but only in the wide angle. In the maximum telephoto, the minimum focusing distance is about 20 cm! Thus one can small objects, such as for example Watches and requires no additional map format-macro lens.

The picture quality is beyond any doubt. The images are sharp and detailed. The color accuracy is impressive. The D5000 produces images that correspond to what I've seen live. Luminance values are worked out fine. High contrasts are easily reproduced. This has not least, the Nikon's exclusive Active D-Lighting at.

Noise performance: good result of relatively large sensor size at a moderate number of megapixels (that Nikon is not taking part the Megapixelwahn) is expected above average, and according to various tests, especially at high sensitivities better than the Canon EOS 500D is also good. Shots with ISO 3200, depending on the motive still quite usable, and in no way comparable to images from a compact camera.

What is now the great advantage over a high bridge? First, there is the much faster focusing on the viewfinder. Now I can also fast moving subjects (like birds in flight), photograph, something with a compact camera is almost impossible. There is, secondly, the excellent noise performance at high ISO sensitivities. Indoor lighting without flash here are really no longer a problem. And of course the much higher color resolution! The Nikon distinguishes the finest nuances (eg, leaves of trees), where is my camera, only more or less uniform green produced.

LiveView: Although I was naturally accustomed to from my compact camera, now I primarily use the viewfinder. Advantage: Much clearer picture and much faster and more reliable focusing. I actually use the LiveView mode only if I am at unusual angles (from the ground or overhead photograph).

The battery life is excellent. Although the D5000 does not have a shoulder display, but this is an ad with the most important parameters integrated in the viewfinder. This allows the camera without a monitor (use with the screen folded down) and check. Advantage: Even longer battery life and no smearing of the monitor.

So much for the positive things. What is negative? Actually, not much. The service is sometimes not so optimal, because for many settings, the menu must strive. Becoming more professional cameras offer here just a few more buttons. While this makes the housing haptically and visually a very good impression, but might still be a little more stable. My body creaks and something gives way to the front page. Another D5000, which I have later seen from your dealer does not have this defect.

What I miss? The automatic focus control through maximum zoom on the screen after tripping. It offers almost every compact camera, why not the D5000? So you have to manually zoom into the displayed image more complicated. Maybe that goes to a future firmware update.

New entrants in the D-SLR segment, I recommend that devote themselves to the camera. It may take a while before we get optimal results. Users of the automatic system with a compact camera are far better served. The potential of the D5000 displays only if one chooses the right situation-specific parameters. The functionality is so gigantic that you absolutely must play a few days with the camera in order to really know everything and control it.

In the video function, I shall not go into here - because it absolutely does not interest me.
Conclusion: The Nikon D5000 is a highly recommendable D-SLR, which has picked up by image quality and features much of her professional sister models. Even if you are as advertised, a beginner's camera is really no longer. This is due to the price, well above the entry-level D-SLR's is located. Second, the large range of functions and the complex operation, which could overwhelm some beginners. Technically, the D5000 is above the initial segment. Basically, it is the D5000 is a newly packaged D90, with some advantages and disadvantages to this model.

Update:
After 2 months of using my D5000 came a fall of 5 meters to the victims. I Have now bought the Nikon D90 with the same lens. Now I can indecisive prospects who can not decide between the two models share some experiences:

Benefits of the D90 compared to D5000:

+ Better feel and solid processing + Worlds to better display (920,000 pixels) + Shoulder-touch display and additional + Much larger and better viewfinder + More professional Special Features + Slightly better noise performance + Better and faster handling + Longer battery life
Disadvantages compared to the D5000:

- Lack of automatic Distortion (I miss) - A little heavier and slightly larger (not everyone is a disadvantage) - Display information for newcomers less understandable
My suggestion: bring more photographic experience of the prospective customer, the more likely he will be happy with the D90. The more inexperienced newcomer will be better able to make friends with the D5000, the user guide offers a lot of support. I personally benefit especially from the much larger and more powerful the viewfinder of the D90. The folding screen, I strangely did not miss. The higher resolution screen of the D90 is so blickwinkelunabh?ngig that he is just as suitable for ?berkopfaufnahmen or photos from the frog's perspective.

D90 - a good decision, One vornweg: I switched from the D40 to D90 and from this point, I look at Nikon's new model.

The arrangement of the controls is somewhat different from usual, but I had to look for something the delete key. I am excited to what can be adjusted via the well laid out keys using the dials. For the standard functions of white balance, ISO, AF control, quality, etc. Ausl?Semodus I have no more cumbersome to scroll through multiple menus. For me as Newcomers of Super Pops.

Furthermore, I am now no longer dependent on motorized optics, a highlight for me. Since many good lenses for narrow money does not have its own engine, for example, Nikkor 50mm 1.8 D and 2.8 D Tokina 100mm Macro. Class!
The large screen with reasonable coverage is to my mind is a quantum leap. High resolution and vibrant colors. Booyah!
The weight and handling are just barely in the frame. More should be, not for me. For small hands it gets pretty scarce, however, reach all the buttons, while preserving the good pieces in front of the fall. Certainly the size of a camera is also a matter of taste, but I like the somewhat handier models rather easily.

The second screens on top of the camera I find ne chic thing you have always look all the important settings at a glance without complicated on the big screen. For professional cameras ensure standard, but new territory for me.
Class is also the fact that my old ML-L3 Remote unhesitatingly done on the D90 is serving.
The new features like Live View, D-Movie, I will certainly use almost never was for me not buy the argument that camera.

The significantly higher resolution and better noise performance ever I do not need an extra mention.

Finally, I would simply say. Good quality at a fair price. Class.

A truly excellent camera for my needs D60 digital slr body!

The most important thing, a camera is that it delivers good pictures - and this applies absolutely to the D60. Also the noise performance is good up to ISO 800. The equipment is rather thin, it lacks the ability to create Beichtungsreihen that HDR images are so difficult. Also missing is the depth-especially with macros. That there is only three AF focus points, I find acceptable. The camera is light and fantastic in the hand. The 18-55 Kitobjektiv is with the 16-85 (more expensive and heavier), but not too vergleichen.Das 18-105 is affordable and good, to be preferred to 18-55. The sensor cleaning, I feel as valuable, as is the active delighting. Those looking for a cheap entry-level SLR and lays particular emphasis on image quality, this camera will have a lot of joy.

As a lay person to judge the photography a camera like the D60 objectively and competently, may not go well. Fortunately, the action already taken by the previous speakers. That is why my review is more a personnel experience review. This just in advance for clarification.

I already owned one or the other digicam, from High Density to Bridge. Has always bothered me that I am in the compact by the yaw for "Small, Small, Mini!" making too many concessions in image quality and usability and that would bridge chips à la iS 10 or FZ 28 in terms of their weight, but spent little picture performance.

Through a friend I got the idea to try a DSLR - with the consequence that I am now owner of the D60 ... And finally, have fun while shooting! Especially the numerically vast interior, which turned out too badly for my compact, and where my bridge models were too slow (I only say: PowerShot G3!), I succeeded at last, thanks to this camera and this lens. And after I got myself a few days ago, the Nikkor AF-S 70-300, are also farther away no problem. In short, I've very happy with this camera, although I have now definitely take longer than before :-(

As I said, explaining the other reviews pretty much the pros and cons of the camera. A flaw in the D60, but I must mention yet: make settings on the menu is sometimes tedious. Vielliecht But it is indeed me and because I only long, but does not know the short way.

Anyway, I am very happy to give 5 stars for an overall very good camera!

I bought the kit from the Nikon D60 about a week and am happy vollstens! Have some comparisons e.g. Nikon D40x with the kit and a Canon SLR body camera. I must say that the Nikon D60 is clearly the better choice, even or especially for beginners.
The camera is very user friendly and easy to use. They learn quickly to use the various functions give-. The included Lieferumpfang AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 G DX from making "almost" all situations out razor-sharp images.
When I tried the camera for the first time and shot over 250 images that were more than I think 4 slightly blurry. However now that I've arrived a little better so that all images will be sharp.
What I think of Vortel is that the camera has a very short turn-on and reaction time, which guarantees quick snapshots!

All in all, I am therefore more than happy with my darling!

The Nikon D60 is a digital SLR body camera with 10 megapixels will leave no wish unfulfilled. Thanks to non-existent shutter lag lands in the camera what the photographer wanted to capture the picture, even if they are children playing, jumping cats or dogs raging. Which is also very fast autofocus-Fuktion provides also with less practiced for more sharp pictures. Predetermine programs, and numerous individual settings to satisfy the novice as well as advanced users. Whether you simply pull the trigger, you shoot photos with specific settings, each will come with the D60 at its expense. Close-up to the macro area are just as good coverage as wide-angle shots of landscapes, etc.
All in all, a digital SLR body camera, which really leaves know, wish unfulfilled and, above all, no room for disappointment!

Since a few days test in detail the D60. My D40 (without X), I have been over a year still. My only reason to purchase the D60 is that I bought myself several lenses and consequently these will change frequently. Time I hope that my dust cleaning system of the D60 is useful in this regard. The D60 does not necessarily make better photos. Photo quality is of first and second, by the photographer himself objektivabhäNgig. The 10 million pixels for me were also not decisive. However the more I deal with the D60, so I gradually realize that it is from the "inner values" is in small details, the more advanced camera. For me it is the successor of the D40X. The D40 (not the normal D40) is virtually dead with the release of the D60, the "normal" and good old D40 will remain for beginners interressant continue, it is the classic race, just good and be bought now very affordable. I will sell to keep the D60 and my D40. This, however, with some sadness. The D60 is, it seems to me to continue the success story of the normal D40.
From me a strong buy recommendation.

Hot to buy digital SLR boyd :Excellent DSLR

I am one of those people who buy a DSLR), owing to the larger sensor (APS-C format for less noise in low light conditions and not because of the possibility to use multiple lenses. So I was looking for a good DSLR with good image quality, low noise at high ISO values, and a good Time-Drauf lens does not need to change to.

I'm out for months between the Pentax K20D and the Nikon D90-thinking and forth. At the K20D The outdoor fitness fascinated me, the better the D90 kit lens 18-105, the 920,000-pixel display and improved Live View function, and, according to test better image quality (especially low noise at high ISO, what's my main concern is).

Finally, I bought the D90. So me, the Nikon D90 has so far been very convincing (4,000 images). Together with the 18-105 VR kit lens, this camera I think is the best solution for the serious amateur photographer. There are no better in this price range. Professional photographers, however, come around a D700, 5D or 1D MkII not at all, cameras costing twice or three times) (the 1D fivefold.

So, now I'm trying to give the telegram-style, my experience (3 months / 4,000 images) with the D90 again:

PLUS:

+ If the "certain something". They fell in love with this camera. It has somehow "sex appeal", and is incredulously comfortable to hold

+ Housing makes a * very * stable * valent * impression (much better than a Canon 450D, for example! There are worlds between). Here, Nikon has clearly ahead compared to Canon or Olympus

+ Size and weight suitable for large men's hands, but still not too big or too bulky for women's hands. For both genders, very good! The D90 has an ideal, average size for a DSLR, not so unwieldy as small as the Olympus, and not so bulky and heavy as a great D700 or 5D MkII. Simply perfect. Exactly in the middle.

+ Very good image quality! And complete * absence * of noise up to ISO 800! At ISO 1600 noise only very slightly, depending on the motive did not exist. ISO 3200 also very well usable, but low noise! Very good sharpness, detail, and very neutral, realistic colors! (not as crisp as colorful as in the canyons, but neutral, very pleasant!). The color management is much more realistic and more professional than a Canon or Olympus in its price class. Not focused on sensationalism, but in truth to nature. And very good white balance, which almost always true, I have never been to correct the white balance on the computer with other cameras I have to correct every other frame

+ Professional image quality and low noise The D90 meet expectations!

+ Auto Focuses and tripping very fast, suitable for sports photography. 4.5 frames per second. Focussing and tripping 64 milliseconds (0.064 seconds)! One-tenth (!) The tripping of an average compact camera

+ Many functions and making "gadgets" (but which are fun and useful) and setting options

+ Very good LiveView feature for a DSLR (although AF in LiveView mode, a bit slow)

+ 720p HD video (but no AF while recording only manually - but you get used to it. AF only at the beginning of the video)

+ Very good, sharp, colorful 3-inch display with 920,000 pixels (!)

+ Very good, large, bright, genuine glass prism finder! The BEST in this price range finder, prism glass (real glass, not plastic as in other DSLR viewfinder). Such seekers have otherwise only the professional DSLR's cost three times

+ Distortion in the WW area of the 18-105 zoom lens can be corrected in-camera image editing! (Only manually, not automatically as with the D5000). Ingenious function that work very well, carried out! Works but only with G-Nikkor lenses with a CPU like the AF-S VR 18-105G from the kit

+ * In general, the-camera image editing * The D90 is a brilliant thing, you can straighten, images to correct distortion, color correction and sharpness readjustment, (edit RAW! Apply), filters, etc., etc. Simply brilliant. Photoshop, there is almost no more:)) might be useful and fun

+ VR (Vibration Reduction) optical image stabilization of Kitobjektivs, works great, sharp images to 1 / 15 sec at 157mm (105mm) tele possible, ie 3 to 4 times improvement in values. Very well, I am more than satisfied

+ AF and VR on Kitobjektiv fast and pleasant sound. Supple, one hears nothing, nothing, it vibrates

+ Very good bracketing function for HDR images, 2 or 3 shots and 0:33 to 2.0 adjustable lighting levels in 1 / 3 steps adjustable

MINUS:

- No outdoor capacity, the D90 is a fair-weather camera (like any other DSLR in this class too, except for the K20D)

- Kitobjektiv recorded relatively strong in the WW division, but can be corrected internally by the camera manually, and even makes fun, got used to it. You can correct these distortions also conveniently on the PC with the programs or DxO Optics Nikon Capture NX2, but cost money. Otherwise, I find the 18-105 VR Kitobjektiv very good! I have purchased DxO Optics, half as expensive as Nikon Capture NX2.

- You have to buy expensive software to get the best out of the D90 out to (dx0, Capture NX, Photoshop). At least a piece of software for correcting distortion of the WW but should be included, I think. The supplied ViewNX software does not offer this possibility and is therefore not sufficient. Nikon should necessarily alter its software policy. However: As I said, we can correct the distortion of the MF-* *-camera software, so to speak, the D90 has a built-in Photoshop (software!), No joke. Only on the computer, I miss the opportunity to correct distortions in

Update: Meanwhile, I have found very interesting and testing sites on the Internet, the D90 certify even better picture quality than the more expensive D300, in particular, less noise! And the test results correspond with my subjective feeling about the 4,000 pictures that I took with the D90. The picture quality is fantastic, and especially the low noise. And my main concern, the low noise in low light conditions is more than satisfied. Regarding image quality, the D90 is almost a newer and improved D300! That is extremely gratifying! The D300, however, has the better housing, aluminum, dust-and waterproof, so the extra cost is justified

Conclusion: I can only recommend the D90. Purchase. Despite the software history, which annoys me a bit, I give five stars, and I would be six if it were possible. Overall, the D90 is just a totally compelling camera that is fun and easy, urges me to creative photography and motivated and that's the thing about a DSLR. The fun, joy, and motivation. This offer the D90. Pure photography.

Amazed Simply nikon digital camera

I'm a professional photographer. I shoot editorials and advertising. I own a couple Canon 1Ds Mark 3. That being said, I wanted a small compact camera to take around with me. I first purchased a Sigma DP-1, but found it limiting and too slow. I sold it and decided to purchase the Canon 450D (XSi). And I am simply amazed at the functionality and speedy feel of the camera. Yes, it's not as small as a DP-1, but compared to a 1Ds Mark 3, it's tiny. Every feature of this camera is well thought out and they loaded it with much current technology as possible. I can't think of a single thing to complain about. I see people complaining about the buffer, but honestly if you NEED high buffer on RAW shooting then take the plunge and buy a 1D or 1Ds.

It's not a professional grade camera by functionality and build. But the image quality is on par. sRAW on a 1Ds Mark 3 is precisely the same as this camera MP size. I would feel very comfortable with the image quality of this camera to do a editorial shoot (non-sport) with it. But of course, the client always wants to see the big expensive camera, since they're paying you.

With this purchase expensive with so many technical options that are attracted (s) quickly, often speak or write. Here's what has been reported several times, the image quality is excellent and the service is very simple.
I have long been afraid to switch from analogue to digital photography. Image noise at high ISO settings and shutter lag is too long for legal reasons, spoke against it.

Now I cannot help me, I even thought. The Canon EOS 350 D scans of my journey in images of excellent quality, without any obligation to do so, no problem. Only the target is wrong. This was because the price you can expect.

Since I have large hands and delicate fingers, I was skeptical when reading tests and reviews, although I am quite comfortable with the lightweight EOS 350 D will be managed completely false. Even for me it is possible without labor problems EOS 350 D.

I also believe that their low weight in the photograph as a drawback. Fits well in hand. Jitter is the exception.

I feel the weight and small size as the great relief. Finally, I can bring my "equipment" without pulling the trip. After a few days it bothers me on the shoulder at all depend. And I cannot tell my old analogue SLR body.

Although housing is not a significant impact, waterfalls and tropical survivors has been adopted.

Outset could be operated intuitively without a lot of time to read the instructions. The reward of the same manual is designed to understand. If of technical material, which unfortunately is not granted.

As a photographer, has spent many years of travel experience, I am absolutely satisfied with my purchase. The technical possibilities, or rather the games do not have much time fully used. The results are very good, well supplied with the lens. With better quality, are very good. Compact played a better game, with a different sample below. Analogue SLR body cameras have been exceeded.

Professionals with special needs or show freaks are too expensive and take some better models. Even supporters of the technical feasibility of the sect with Angeberall? Ren (), sex in general men. The rest of the world is well served by this unit and will be happy to have a high entertainment value.

I have been picturing with digital cameras like the Canon G2 and the Olympus 8080, I first ordered the Canon EOS 350D.

First, I am informed, in many online tests on the product. The disadvantages of this new digital SLR boyd camera with interchangeable lenses is often described as the size, allegedly bit 'and make the "cheap" with the body. On the other side, the image quality of the EOS 350D is regarded as exemplary and 'the price of the model of the Canon EOS 20D for almost nothing.

The shock came when I extracted the Canon EOS 350D. The camera is much lighter and smaller, in particular, I would have expected from the photos on the Internet. However, the camera prosumer Olympus 8080 is heavy and bulky. Those who are a massive reflex camera, which should be very surprised.

The Canon EOS 350 is closer to the look and feel of a Canon PowerShot Pro1. Only the massive changes the lens raises the suspicion that it might be a full SLR body.

What is the Internet, through the housing of the EOS 350D is true. The finish is good and "Made in Japan". For a rough surface affect the envelope of the SLR is now big and strong as the shiny silver plastic of the old EOS 300D. Called "strips" on the surface are Fingelnagelstaub.

However in the end there are plastic. The Nikon F70 is in contrast with the EOS 350D and makes heavy with overall quality. Therefore, the EOS 350D is a fellow ultra-compact and lightweight.

The size of the frame, the EOS 350D SLR competition with the smallest on the market, especially with the Pentax * istDS. Newcomers prosumer compact cameras like the Canon Powershot G2, G3, or the Olympus 5060 is not related to the case of the EOS 350D drive. Those who think differently than before, most digital SLR body cameras, especially in the early years has a problem, the camera easily.

Since this device is designed specifically for the hands of women difficult. Even the ultra-light, talk to female buyers anyway. Men should not despair, with the EOS 350D, though. Optional Battery Grips for Canon BG-E3 is the Canon EOS 350D Boliden.

Many words on the compactness of this revolutionary device. The key issues is the image quality, which produces a camera. Here, the EOS 350D is now rightly claim that it is one of the best 8-megapixel camera on the market. Image quality as much more expensive EOS 20D and price, as a semi-professional camera.

The Canon EOS 350D is working with its compactness, namely East as a camera (Olympus 8080, Konica Minolta Dimage A2, the PowerShot G6), but is much more powerful and expandable. Beating the case of an SLR system, the choice of interchangeable lenses (much better autofocus not blurred images even in low light conditions) and improved ISO sensitivity, allowing you to flash even more light in the images still almost perfectly without. The noise of the EOS 350D is so small, even at ISO 1600, which is not seen for a development on A4.

It 'a bit' too easily, has the flash of the EOS 350D in fully automatic mode for themselves. Here the performance of this flash is awesome. The show is surprisingly perfect.

Correct the enthusiasm has come for me, but if I screwed my Canon Speedlite 420EX Flash, which has previously used for my Canon Powershot G2 too. The EOS 350D supports E-TTL, an advanced method for calculating the number of lights. The EOS 350D uses the torch light for the autofocus 420EX to go to a greater focus on. They were often the images that are burned from close range with a thunderbolt. Not so with the combination of 350D and EOS Speedlite 420EX or 430EX. That depends really.

The new Canon EOS 350D is a round thing. I call this a Super Powershot camera, because it combines lightweight and compact size of the class camera for the performance of SLR cameras use interchangeable lenses and prosumers.

The market leader Canon is now the midfield with excellent PowerShot G6. Who wants more than a Powershot G6 does not offer, but only a bump on his leg, for which the EOS 350D is the ideal choice for the charge. Newcomers PowerShot are also pleased that the navigation menu on the EOS is similar.

I think, were "Halfway House", like the Sony Cyber-828, survived the Konica Minolta Dimage A2 and the Olympus 8080, with the release of the EOS 350D with a Canon EOS 350D, there is now an ultra compact camera with cameras -light quality of his photos prosumer, this measure alone, is due to technical reasons (CMOS chip and off-AF) is much more suitable.

The creative possibilities of the EOS 350D is about equal to those of professional cameras. Canon comes with a lot of programs. Fortunately, the EOS 350D, but you can also switch to fully automatic and photographed an immediate success. However, the buyer must make the commitment to training in the fundamentals of art. There are booking on Amazon, the EOS 350D.

With the supplied kit lens is often denigrated in the press. My advice: see it because it is perfectly in practice, and clear pictures! Decisions made at least cost alternatives, such as the Sigma AF 18-50mm f/3.5-5.6 DC! A good alternative, but expensive is the Canon EF-S 17-85mm 4,0-5,6 IS USM.

A good companion for the Rebel XT Lens Kit

Many owners of Standard Digital Rebel Canon 18-55mm lens kit. Are useful, but the goal of the kit has some serious limitations, including lack of clarity on the TV is 55mm. The Sigma 55-200mm is much clearer and more open to 55 mm, which makes a good addition to the kit lens. The overall images quality of the Sigma is pretty good, especially considering the price and 200 millimeters (320 millimeters in 35mm format equivalent) in television provides a key to your photos.

The Sigma 55-200mm is a brand new line of digital-only lenses. In the Rebel XT, and contains 35 mm equivalent focal length of 88-320mm. The approach is very fast and the picture quality is relatively good. The lens is small and light compared to other objectives in areas such a big game for the Rebel XT is quite low. 55 millimeters lens becomes a trickle filter, but it means that you need a step-up adapter ring, if you want to share the same kit lens of 58 millimeters. In general, this is a good option if your cost-effective to expand the search for a second lens photogtaphic their horizons.

D90 digital SLR body a great step forward compared to the D40 digital SLR body

I just upgraded to the D90 digital SLR body the D40 digital SLR body, because I'm futzing with the D40's white balance was tired and wanted to lower light sensitivity (ISO top) and the flexibility of the 'fast with the goals, many who are not AF-S.

I was very impressed with the D90 digital SLR body. I comparison with the D40 digital SLR body. Take better pictures because of the wide dynamic range and more colors (ADR) and a better white balance. Things that seem important by the majority ranked as the least important.

1. D-Lighting (ADR). If you have photos with me) with high dynamic range lighting (shading problems with a light background, which otherwise would not. Moreover, we rented a house where you know, in a swift end, but there are places in beige and light green below. We have never been successful on images with the Nikon D40 digital SLR body or the number of our take-and-click. The D90 digital SLR body has this way (without flash) at the point where it is easier to see the image of the eyes, and nail color! suspect that even tame the ADR and the noise level at high ISO support (see n. 3).

2. AWB. The white balance is a big improvement over the D40 digital SLR body, the disorder often AWB. If you look closely, it is not perfect, but close enough to all but the perfectionist, and the beauty of it is working on the car. This means that you can concentrate on taking pictures of fiddling with the settings in this way. There are also a variety of ways to set the default AWB with great precision.

3. Recording in low light. I take a lot of indoor photos without flash. Until recently, there was no f/1.4 AF-S were the major (in D40 digital SLR body is required). D90 digital SLR body ermöglicht die is 2 Möglichkeiten: a) AF-D-Objekt ist und b) hat eine ISO-Hohe Leistung verbessert. Not tested by F test with my 55-200mm VR at 55 mm (/ 4), and seen the light and color of ISO on the D40 digital SLR body and D90 . I have it in manual mode, after the detailed schedule of Ken Rockwell (tripod, VR off, with remote control). I think the D90 is 1 to 2 ISO stop better than the D40. D90/ISO 6400 is too dirty, but D90/3200 is very useful. With the D40 at 800 ISO, the nitidez es ligeramente mejor que la D90 en 3200 (pero peor que D90/1600), pero hay muchos más fuera de control, pizza buscar un día de edad en las secciones oscuras with the D40 at 800 The D90 imagine in 3200 (to ADR) is here to help. D90 color begins to disappear from some of the ISO 1600, and lowest in 3200, then some 6400

4. 11 AF points contributed to a difference of approach to D40 digital SLR body 3 points. AF feels even faster. Auto Focus is a great improvement.

5. I like that it is faster to change ISO, WB and quality because of the special keys. I also have AF as my first choice in "My Menu", 1-click and make a difference (by pressing the Fn key). This was another proposal for a Rockwell.

6. The screen is incredible, as others have said. You can also browse through the larger picture, very fast on the screen.

7. I expect to use my SB600 flash modes, remote control (you can not do that on the D40).

8. On the side, I have a couple of old manual focus lenses for Nikon D90 from 1960 to not laugh, but it will be the D40. I do not think that this should be affected too many people.

Another point: I am not familiar with the D300 and D700, but the D90 feels solid enough, compared to the D40 . I thought to stabilize the weight in case of attack, but I also believe that this component is stronger than the D40 , and the vibrations tend to cancel their greater weight in relation to the participation of the camera too.

For those who do not comply with the manual settings, many of the major advantages of ADR D90 digital SLR body to D40 and the World Bank. These improvements can be displayed in the replacement of D40 digital SLR body in about 6 months. I could not wait for this. For those who regularly use the manual settings, but this is a camera.

WOW is all I can say for digital SLR body camera

There are many comments here, and I do not want to be redundant. Here are some useful points that I had trouble finding in my research before pulling the trigger on this purchase, because I was upgrading from a D60 digital SLR body and I, like many who have read the reviews of this product is not a professional:

1. I had the D40 and D60. So my third Nikon. I could barely understand how to buy contact lenses for D40/D60, would behave when used in this new model. The answer is that the D90 perfect finish. These include lentils, which are integrated with HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor is packed in glass, like the D40/D60 range has built-in auto-focus motor), and those who have no internal motor. The D90 digital SLR body is equipped with an engine internal focus, so that all the goals made for Nikon cameras, auto focus, of which 50 millimeters F1.8 Nikon D60 that had developed in the manual.

2. The D90 is heavier, but not uncomfortable to hold or carry. The weight is a factor that discourages the purchase of this camera.

3. The D90 uses a range of batteries, so you do not work on parts of the old models too. Battery life is exceptional. I do not know to buy a replacement battery.

4. The user interface is completely different from the D40/D60. It seems intuitive, but. The functionality is excellent, much simpler and more flexible. This is a camera Pro seamlessly with a high-end camera enthusiasts.

5. Live View is a great improvement. Really.

In general, there is nothing I can say negative about the D90. And 'everything I expected and worth the money for the upgrade. I sell the D60 for more than half of what you paid for - and do it with gusto - because the D90 is worth more than it sells. Absolutely I highly recommend it.

I thought I could give objective advice because he had trouble finding an examiner, the judge is a race and said: "You see, in order to achieve this goal." So, look, just do this: I do not recommend the goal of the kit, you can get is with the D90. Take the only agency to buy and Nikon 50mm f1.8 (Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR). This is obvious, prices, and the photos you've already won, simply exceptional. For the rest of your lenses, I strongly recommend Sigma. I have the 18-200 (Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC lens for Nikon digital SLR cameras), 10-20 (Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM for Nikon digital SLR cameras), and 150-500 (Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3 AF APO DG OS HSM Telephoto Lens for Nikon digital SLR body). I can not say enough good things about the quality of the lenses and frames. Package of 50 mm and 18-200 lens for super-normal events. If you can bear the extra weight, you can do absolutely nothing wrong with the 10-20 for landscapes, it just takes all and the quality is amazing. The 150-500 is enormous, I do not want to carry this thing with him, but if you need it, you really need. I captured the images of my child's play in a football game to take me fly, not without great shots of the lens. Get the lenses in the order I have indicated, if you pay all.

I learned all that just in the last 2 years. I'm no expert, but I discovered the joy of capturing beautiful images that you can not go from one point to point and shoot. I think if the quality you can get a camera with better quality, will be used by the decision, money and energy to be excited. And Nikon actually the best camera at this price in the world. This is a professional camera with a price of enthusiasts and is very easy to use. Words can not really need to know to understand.

Do you have any questions, please post a comment. Happy to help!

Update - July 16, 2009:

Now I have more than 4,000 images with the D90 digital SLR body, and I can confirm that there is still everything I expected. When I think of something I like to think so, I think the D90 has the possibility of setting up in the menu somewhere. The D-Lighting is spectacular. Free noise in low light conditions I was surprised. Yo no veo la mejor de este equipo during un tiempo muy largo. My technique for most situations is the following: take a couple of pictures with automatic settings. Then switch to manual mode and starts the game with the depth of field by adjusting the ISO, aperture and shutter speed to suit the situation. Half the time the car a good image so that I can not do much in its infancy in manual mode!

D90 digital slr body photographers can be said for developing and not just engineers! Wonderful user interface and image quality!

I am far from being a professional photographer, but I take it as seriously as possible while still describes it as a hobby. I often take pictures of people at events and many of my son, the child without flash in low light conditions.

I was with a Nikon D40x digital SLR body for 1 year and reached my limit with this camera early. The quality of the Nikon D40x is very good, but the interface of the camera is not for a serious shooter, or a button for quick access to fix the line of fire, according to the requirements of the correct white balance mode, exposure, metering mode, etc. I was very happy also limits the D40x, not a motor in the body that allows me to focus on goals AF-I/AF-S no (built-in lens motor without focus).

The Nikon D40x limitations were severe enough, that was about to consider purchasing a Canon 40D until the Nikon D90 appeared just in time.

Pros:

1. Fantastic series of separate buttons for the camera settings, such as ISO, white balance, metering, control, auto focus, image quality, shooting mode, etc.
2. Two control knobs
3. High resolution 920k pixel LCD screen (like the Nikon D300)
4. 12.3 megapixel CMOS sensor
5. Low noise high ISO capability (for the lighting conditions) that can shoot ISO 1600 with good image quality with the camera while I was in my D40x at ISO 400 and obtain acceptable IQ shoot. Are still with the ISO 3200 with results often used!
6. Top quality LCD screen on the new separate, the parameters are continuously displayed photographs of
7. Electro-focused agency, the work of using non-Nikon AF-I / S lenses, including lenses and inexpensive as wonderful Nikkor 50mm 1.8 (~ $ 100 animals lenses!)
8. 4.5 fps burst mode
9. Small in size but larger than D40/D40x/D60, is even lower in the hand than the D300 / D3
10. 720p 24fps MPEG video recording capabilities with an incredible talent, depth of field that has no use with my Sony camcorder in high definition.
11. Eleven point auto focus (not as good as the 51 points of the D300, but substantially better than my D40x with its 3 points)
12. GPS option
13. HDMI Output
14. Considerable number of options to adjust the camera settings and adapts to your style of shooting shooting
15. The fantastic image quality right out of the box, if you do not want the post-processing --
16. Great build quality
17. Top notch ergonomics of the camera (but it's a personal opinion, which is different) for each element

CONS:

1. Rolling Shutter "phenomenon while recording video: The D90 CMOS sensor has the same problem that other CMOS video recorders while recording video. If you move the camera, especially horizontally, in a freezing "or" rubber band effect "where the image is very different. It has video of Nice, the 720p looks very strong, but there is no substitute for a camcorder . If you use a tripod pots and make quick zoom / video quality. awarded without a tripod, but you can see a video nausea unstable. The sound is mono.
2. 1 / 200 flash sync is not a problem for me, but I could be there for you.
3. No phenomenon closing time: Located in Nikon D300/D3 and models of the same price range of businesses other camera digital slr body
4. The buffer fills up after about 8 RAW + JPG continues (END) records. This number varies depending on the parameters you click the shutter. JPG When the fire first, seems to be the buffer to allow a large number of continuous shots, but did not quantify only JPG.

TIPS:

1. You can get the Nikon View NX from Nikon's site, as phase 1 for his work. This will cause the RAW image can be modified Nikon RAW CaptureNX2 consider additional treatments or simply export to JPG or TIFF to JPG / TIFF editor like Photoshop.
2. Recommend buying the CaptureNX2 Nikon. This is a RAW converter (if you shoot in RAW format), that the camera settings properly for export to JPG or TIFF see. Capture NX2 is not smooth like the Adobe products and Capture NX2 requires a fairly powerful computer, or gradually be run on a PC > 3 years.
3. To consider if you increase the JPEG images to use off-camera, the sharpness of the standard 3 or 4. Nikon uses a very conservative approach to default settings. Nikon has also decided to modify the images in standard JPEG format D3/D700/D300 devices that produce images of high neutral meeting place. Therefore, images of the D90, unless D40/D40x/D60/D80 may also want to return the camera saturation and contrast.

The Nikon D90 has all the characteristics of the user, serious and even professional photographers need a good quality image.

At the level of exaggeration for digital slr body

Pro: I am very happy with this device. After doing some research for a few months between this camera, the Nikon D80 and Canon 40D with a reputation, I chose the XSi for my needs. Best total prices for my performance needs. The picture quality is fantastic, even if the goal of the kit, the best, even better. Be careful to buy a 50 millimeters 1.4, 70-200 4L, and a stroll around the lens better when I get, home badly with 18-55 IS lens kit, but for now the goal of starting his own. Although I really believe the Nikon D80 and the 40D cameras better for users and serious, especially, I'm faithful Canon (best record) and the 40D is simply too cumbersome and expensive for me. I do not need all the bells and whistles to 40D further at this point in my life.
If you have a simple, easy to use and learn () for the first time user, long battery life (about 500 images), Clear LCD Nice and fair value price for all the camera shots Nikon, Pentax , Sony, and for beginners, intermediate, transition for the shooters. J'ai choisi cet appareil photo sur le 40D en raison de sa plus adapté pour moi je peux utiliser et surtout de la différence entre les prix et le 40D XSI 70-200 4L pour obtenir gratuitement Fondamentalement Mon

Cons: once again the common reference to the handle, but the truth is not so bad, if you have small hands reach of the average size. You can adapt quickly, as the pro-screen camera has suffered any problems. There is no best option remains the objective of the kit out.

Overall: ideal destination for novice / beginner and intermediate users, most of the investigations said ...

Note: Por favor, an obtener mapa de memoria de Niza, the recomiendo que tiene de 4 u 8 GB SanDisk Extreme III (worth el extra de $ 5-10) or the de SDHC Class 6, a pequeñO lugar en algunos exchange other objectives, falls in love with this camera and will be forced to buy up other doors, and finally buy decent filters, while enjoying the picture quality and the protection they offer. RC-1 ist ein die Zubehörteile Nice. I hope it was useful to you, like all other studies have been useful for me.

Digital SLR Camera Canon EOS 50D

For the 50D a lot of positive things are said, I will not repeat here. But there are some aspects that are purchases and have not been illuminated as follows:

1. Optical viewfinder: The truly creative SLR photography is the ability to focus manually. Who wants to work for macro, telephoto or portrait shots with a bright lens with a targeted shallow depth, will not beat around. This requires an optical viewfinder that shows the eye truly reliable, where the focus is currently sitting. The offering, the EOS 50D/40D with their interchangeable focusing screens. The mini-DSLR, when it is the Canon EOS 500D/450D etc. (but also applies to other manufacturers) is missing from brightness reasons this crucial focusing aid. And Liveview magnification with the sharpness control can only inanimate objects and solid camera support (tripod, use bean-bag, etc.). In short: Who wants to shoot really creative, should have to decide because of the viewfinder on the EOS 50/40D instead of the smaller EOS 500/450D.

2. Expensive cheaper 40D or 50D?
- Who has a collection of lenses, especially Fremdobjektive including, for the following professional features interesting feature is the 50D: With the camera can be readjusted systematic Fehlfokussierungen the autofocus. This has been going with a razor blade attached to the wall with a sharp printed image of a glossy magazine (still is better a "Siemens star"). It builds on the camera with a tripod and takes up about a sharpness Liveview series, in which one image by image, the adjustment of the AF focus point of the lens gradually shifts. The best setting is then stored in the camera. The 50D is able to memorize the individual settings of up to 20 lenses. Doing well, but is unfortunately no magic cure for the erratic work of some vague older AF micro-motors.

- Image quality. For the 40D, I have no comparison, but the EOS 450D, which I've shot thousands of photos. She is brilliant with its 12-megapixel sensor, a sophisticated reference. I shot with two cameras, for example as a comparative test series by a very patient-friendly as snowy owl. Developed from RAW to show the images of the EOS 50D actually even more fine detail in the delicate feather structures. The result is truly impressive. For JPEGs, you can see, however not much difference between the two cameras. Unfortunately, the JPEG engine vermatscht the 50D such as the 450D has the finest setting subtle details, that's the price of compression. But here I grumble at high levels. Therefore, a deduction of points would be extremely unfair.

- High-resolution LCD screen. Compared to the 450D, the screen resolution as I know the 40D represents a huge profit. This is especially true when focusing on Liveview with magnification. Disadvantage: Together with the powerful processor (Digic 4) he sucks in a lot of use the battery runs out quickly, which falls mainly in relation to long-distance runners 450D. The purchase of a second battery is essential.

3. Lenses: Who buys a Ferrari, do not screw off Polo tires. This also applies to a 50D, whose enormous sensor resolution required for good lenses, or one uses the camera does not really get off. Blur and chromatic errors seen at the "Pixel-Peeping", to which such a camera inevitably seduces without mercy. In this regard, I would be wary of such mega-zoom lenses such as the 50D offered as a kit for the EF-S 18-200 IS. First, Canon can not nullify the laws of physics, and secondly, in my experience the cheap kit lenses from Canon is not really good (the exception proves the rule). Better a good, fast lens with a smaller zoom range as Immerdrauf buy "and by and by a few specialists (eg, lenses) to do so.

Conclusion:

- Demanding hobby canonists have no ambitions to be on the video-50D much joy, especially since the housing costs significantly less than 1000 euros. I think the 50D the surcharge from the current 150-200 euro versus the 40D to be full value (I) but not a direct comparison.
- Beginner, which should not shy away from the capital, have no fear in front of this semi-professional camera. To get started, it offers many automatic programs and quickly understandable assistance. The rest is learning by playing around (fun: D). The manual from Canon is not bad either.

I switched 2 months ago from the EOS 400D to the 50D. As an equally striking feature is the enhanced value through the magnesium case. In addition, it is slightly larger and is, for my taste, slightly better in the hand. The operation is simply a pleasure. With the two dials (thumb and Zeigefingerrad) aperture and shutter speed can be adjusted optimally. The separate small display shows all the settings of the camera, it seems at first glance all the info. Also, I have grown fond of the buttons above the display information with which to quickly select the various functions, and with your thumb or may cease Zeigefingerrad. Each button is doubly occupied while the first function with the index finger and the second is adjusted using the thumbwheel. If it is time to let the dark take a turn on the display lighting. It is better in this situation but the Schnelleinstellbildschirm, which is displayed on the large main display. Here you can use the multi-controller is a function to choose and adjust with the thumb, genial.

What convinced me is the very high dynamic range. After several hundred photos, I can say that the contrast ratio and color brilliance is really sharp, and no comparison to 400'er. Also encouraging is that we can also work well with higher ISO values. When you are developing RAW files with Canon's DPP absolutely minimal noise and for some reasons we must, even at ISO 1600, are really looking for it. Here are other software manufacturers must like e.g. Adobe nor experience with the new RAW format to collect. The noise is for example get with Lightroom not quite as good a handle on, but the photos can be seen anyway.
The Live View mode, I have not mentioned yet. I need it rather rare, but it may be helpful in some situations. For example, over the head or near the ground. By a gridline display can be also align beautifully freehand.

Conclusion: I have not regretted the purchase until today and am still excited about this great Semipro DSLR.

A good camera D60 digital slr body

I have the D60 for about 2 weeks and am very happy: they make is well made, great pictures (with me, the manual mode to "new challenges" does). There is an endless supply of accessories for every purpose and in every price range (macro, micro-photography, telephoto, wide angle, Festbrennweitenobjektive, converters, remote controls, lightning, ...), so that would be long-term care for "entertainment".

Wirklich toll is also the VR Image Stabilization Lens: With the 18-55 Objektiv so you can make with a shutter speed of 1 / 10 and a reasonably steady hand, sharp images even without a tripod. Especially with the extensive repertoire of ISO values also succeed in spite of miserable lighting conditions, great pictures.

I had read before purchase that the camera has a relatively big problems in color reproduction under lights and was willing to look the problem in the eye and to buy the camera anyway. So far, I could not find these problems, however, in the practical handling of the camera: At least for my "ambitious amateur eyes," Artificial light also see pictures of absolutely ok (and worlds better than my previous digital camera) off.

The active D-lighting, as a small "real-time HDR", proves to be subtle but useful: In light situations can be seen on the resulting image into otherwise strongly underexposed areas considerably more, though they still remain dark (ie: not be completely cleared up). This extends to the subjective impression of an image to improve significantly. (Active D-Lighting, however, puts the number of possible continuous shooting down somewhat, depending on other settings to about 5-8.)

As you can see the D60 is in the design - as well as the D40/D40x - considerably smaller than the D80 and has eg ) instead of two rotating wheels for aperture and shutter speed is only one (for an initial exposure time. I do not think too bad, because you can easily reach over (some programmable) keys in conjunction with the wheel all the important functions. Since I travel a lot, I find that even very small size suitcase-friendly!

So far so good: Great camera.

But it also has its limits (otherwise it would probably also in another price category located) on the one must be aware and here I find so many product somewhat unclear.

As the largest reduction when compared to larger models, such as the D80, I would be the 3 - rather than for example 9 or 11 - Auto-focus spot sizes see. By limiting to 3, you can just choose only between a focusing in the middle or the right or left of center. Additional points in a row above and below would not be bad! Of course, you can focus on worst-case scenario is still manual, but the fast and highly accurate auto focus also has its advantages ...

Speaking of auto focus: The restriction on reading the most common one is that only AF-S (and I) lenses useful (to the camera as well as on the D40 and D40x) can operate. Since I have no "old" lenses and bring even now, the first affordable SIGMA and TAMRON lenses with AF-motor on the market, this restriction does not scratch me personally.

I am not sure how things stand at D80 but the D60 needs either a separate control unit (= 250 euros) or an SB-800 flash to control for external flashes wirelessly - that I had trusted to her so ...

Legal sad and unnecessary, I think the lack of opportunity for exposure bracketing, which is only manually (= relatively slow and can only stand in the exact same Perseptive produce), especially since it is a pure software seems to matter.

Overall I would say that you get the money for a really good, handy camera, definitely known to me any "normal" digital slr body camera, for example, superior in terms of image quality, and is also for "real camera" feels and sounds. But we can expect in terms of functionality only minor miracle ...

Canon EOS 20D Digital SLR Camera (8 megapixels), body only

The rugged magnesium body of the EOS 20D underlines the professional look. Major components have been developed against the new EOS 10D. The revised menu structure, in conjunction with the also first time in an EOS camera set up multi-function switch ( "Jog Dial") permits a particularly comfortable navigation through the extensive functions of the EOS 20D. New features for color management and Wei?punktbestimmung make the new digital EOS to a tool that can rightly call themselves "semi-professional".

The EOS 20D digital slr body is not only smaller and lighter than its predecessor, the inner values have been improved. This is literally "short" after turning clear: in just 0.2 seconds, the EOS 20D for shooting. The shutter lag of 65 milliseconds is at the professional level. Responsible for the quick start is first and foremost, the new DIGIC II processor, which is also used in the professional EOS 1D Mark II is used. The extended buffer size of the second generation DIGIC processor makes a series of image speed of 23 frame burst at up to 5 frames per second, surpassing the EOS 10D, nearly double. JPEG and RAW files can be recorded simultaneously, especially convenient feature is now the choice, what options JPEG and RAW should be recorded.

The new 8.2-megapixel CMOS sensor built for the new EOS 20D. In addition to its high resolution, the sensor provides a sensitivity range from ISO 100-1600, can be pushed in the "H" setting, even at ISO 3200. It is true that the new CMOS sensor the same dimensions as its predecessor, is due to around 30 percent higher resolution, the size of the individual photodiodes, however small. Improved high performance microlenses over each photodiode help despite smaller diode area is an excellent signal to noise ratio to achieve. For the new microlenses to increase the efficiency of the incident light and thus increase the ISO performance and image quality. In addition, a new optimized the noise reduction circuit: It amplifies the signal from the photodiode and thereby effectively suppressing unwanted effects, such as white noise and pixel raster effects. A three-layer optical low pass filter also reduces color distortion. Particularly convenient can now adjust the white point to individual preferences and style. Based on the above illuminant (daylight, tungsten, etc.) set white point, the photographer can adjust this white point in an extra menu with the jog dial in the direction of red-yellow-green and blue. A bracketing function calculated on request at the reception even more color options.

Brings super-fast autofocus with nine measuring points decisive advantages in practical applications, above all, the new autofocus system. The 9 lozenge arranged around the center AF points cover a larger image area than the AF system of the EOS 10D, but above all, the autofocus has become significantly faster. For the implementation of lenses with an aperture of 1:2.8 or higher, the central focus point can alternatively be selected as a cross-shaped AF sensor area. The choice of sensor points is an alternative to the large EOS-dial or the new multi-function selector switch on the back of the camera.

For even better results when using the internal flash and external Canon Speedlite flashes, the EOS 20D with E-TTL II distance-equipped flash metering. E-TTL II involves the calculation of lightning performance of additional factors, such as the distance setting of the lens in the ambient light measurement and has a detection of reflective objects. In this way, the quality is improved due to flash, especially in critical situations. The EOS 20D is compatible with all EX-series Speedlite flash range, including the new Canon Speedlite 580EX. The reflector of the new flagship model of the Speedlite series goes to the debate on the EOS 20D automatically in the position, in conjunction with the sensor size of the EOS 20D, the optimum illumination of the image circle ensured. For an even more stable color rendering submitted at the Speedlite 580 EX flash color temperature information to the camera. This ensures, even with different flash services with a common color. The integrated flash of the EOS 20D works out higher than the EOS 10D and so reduces the risk of red "flashing eyes".

Sophisticated black and features a reason for many amateur photographers and professionals who continue to work with analogue photo technology that had previously been the many creative possibilities of black and white photography. Here, the EOS 20D makes a decisive step forward. For it is the first Canon digital SLR body camera features a versatile monochrome mode with the black and white shots with similar settings as in analog photography are possible. Particularly noteworthy are taking filter simulations for the filter colors yellow, orange, red and green. These can be digitally inserted into nearly the same way as do advanced black & white with black and white film photographers. To create a Rotfilterung example, the most dramatic effects of clouds, the green filter provides for black and white portraits for a more pleasing skin tone reproduction. A specialty of analog black and white processing in the darkroom are Tonungsverfahren. These effects are available to the EOS 20D photographer in the camera is now available and that - without any chemicals - for shades in the colors of sepia, blue, purple and green. The black and white image files are saved as an RGB file, so that the photographer standing in a further processing on the PC open to all options.

The EOS 20D features the first Canon digital SLR camera with fast USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface. USB 2.0 Hi-Speed is approximately 40 times faster than USB 1.1. So, first, accelerating the transfer of data is from the CF card to PC or Mac with the download, on the other hand, the EOS 20D now also be easily used in a photo studio environment in conjunction with a PC, eg in portrait studios. The photos here are directly transferred to the host to the PC directly stored on the hard drive. Requirement for fast data transfer is that the USB port of the computer supports the USB 2.0 standard, otherwise the transfer takes place only at USB 1.1 speed. The EOS 20D also supported via USB Direct Print function: in conjunction with photo printers that can support the PictBridge standard vendor will geprintet the pictures in the camera without having to use a computer. For the slide show via a video projector or TV, the camera has a video-out port. The EOS 20D stores the files on CompactFlash cards Type I and Type II cards, including Microdrives, and memory cards with capacities of over 2 gigabytes are used.

The new image processing software Digital Photo Professional v1.1 enables rapid processing of lossless RAW files. Processing with Digital Photo Professional is up to about 6 times faster than with the previously supplied File Viewer Utility. The new RAW Software permits real-time display and immediate adjustments to images and also includes comprehensive editing features, including White Balance, and lateral chromatic aberration, Digital Photo Professional application sRGB, Adobe RGB and Wide Gamut RGB color spaces and ICC support-compatible. RAW files to TIFF or JPEG formats to be converted, may, after the transition, a camera specific ICC profile are appended. In this way, the color rendering in software applications that support ICC profiles, optimized. Batch processing (batch function) significantly increases productivity because it allows the automatic through several files with the same conversion settings. The Canon EOS Solution Disk 8.0 includes addition, the Digital Photo Professional software programs EOS Viewer Utility 1.1, EOS Capture v1.1 and PhotoStitch 3.1. Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 is a powerful image editing software.

Very happy after switching

The EOS 500D (digital slr boby), I have purchased together with the EF-S 17-85mm USM lens. The typical kit lens 18-55mm I had not already promised the store. The camera I then added a third-party battery grip.

What do me good after 6 weeks and nearly 1,000 pictures like: The camera fits comfortably in your hand, it can be easy to operate - although at first I often had to look at the manual - Tripping and Scharfstellzeit I find very good. The hit rate of the autofocus impressed me. Test images showed no problems with false focal planes. The zoom range 17-85mm "fits" almost always, since I'm the equivalent focal length of 28mm and 135mm formerly lived. The RAW editing software with the Canon DPP is going well out of hand and offers many possibilities, why do not I use the internal camera JPEG processing. The duration of the dual batteries in the battery grip holds a surprisingly long time.

I do not use the video function.

What I do not like so much: In particular, the lens is no longer conveys the strength and precision that I had from my old Canon A1 and the Originalobjektiven from the 80s used to. The Plastikhaptik we must accept the well, if one does not invest in the L-series.
Getting used to, I think the approach to correct Objektivschwächen with software ". If one accepts erstmal, then you can (with the combination) of a camera, lens and PC to make beautiful pictures.

In the meantime, I had wondered whether it would have been the "metal"-50D is not a better choice for me. I too have Verisse unsure of the lens in various forums. Even carried out comparative tests with two 50mm lenses, which are considered very sharp, but I have reconciled, I could see only minor differences. Meanwhile, I am completely satisfied with the 500D and it would re-buy. There are certain cameras and lenses in particular with better (laboratory) values, but the better tools I use for the foreseeable future, no.
5 points because the things that might not please me to be the market.

Canon EOS 500D Digital SLR Camera (15 megapixels, LiveView, HD video) body

Finally, all in one device

I own the Canon EOS 500D for a good two weeks now and have taken at this time about 800 pictures and movies. Now it is time to draw conclusions.

So far, I photographed with a Canon EOS 30D (and will continue to do so!) And an old EOS 20D. The latter now had the 500D soft (yes, I like to use two cameras, one with wide-angle lens, the other with a telephoto).

The Canon EOS 500D in many respects a great advance in other respects, at least a small improvement.

The picture quality is generally quite good, as I expect it from a Canon EOS digital SLR body. At ISO100 noise is virtually no detectable, even ISO200 is eigenlich just as well. At ISO400, however, we have noticed a certain deterioration of image quality, which, however, makes image editing with more get a grip. ISO800 is compared with older Canon EOS at least the same in terms of the noise. This also applies to the higher ISO values. The 500D is now offering up to legendary ISO12800. ISO6400 is - if you do not too much into the picture zooms out - for 15MP on an APS-C chip very well, while rushing ISO12800 even at screen size very well, with careful noise reduction can be so good but get a grip.

After all, is now possible in such extreme sensitivity shooting in almost total darkness. It has ranging from a few street lights. It is recommended that in case of doubt overexposing anything, because pushing on the computer is not as recommended because the noise it extremely increased.

Who would have it better, probably have to buy the 5D MKII - which is of course a whole lot more expensive.

The JPEGs directly from the camera are certainly very useful. With Tonwertpriorität and the automatic brightening (Autolight Optimizer) is usually required no more Nachberarbeitung. On older cameras, I often had to resort to Füllicht to get the images brighter - this saves you here now. Anyway, it's very restful, not having to reprocess all the images. With a sharpness of 4-5, the images are also enough "crunchy".

Of course you can also use RAW. However, this suggests each image with 18-27MB to book. Here one ought to use a large enough memory card. RAW offers more flexibility to Nachberarbeitung - but can not necessarily get more details.

In direct comparison to the 30D, I must say, though, that makes the 500D is definitely no better images, at least not in the area to ISO1600. I see only advantages in the higher sensitivity and better at the JPEGs directly from the camera (here, the 30D is not quite as good, and RAW has many advantages).

The advantages of 14-bit, extols the Canon, I could not find even with the 500D. Neither she nor better able to absorb the colors where they showed better grades, as is claimed happy.

For the 500D, you should absolutely use good lenses. The 18-55mm IS indeed perform according to various measurements quite well, but it disappointed me somewhat in use at the 500D. With the 17-40mm L, I definitely get better results. The 70-300mm IS USM cuts off at the 500D very good.

What should be considered: the 15MP APS-C on the chip should not be too dim. From aperture 8 of the unsightly effect is the diffraction blur. This may be, at least for certain situations (landscape) is important.

From her body is well managed (digital SLR body), the 500D. The huge display is clear, brilliant and sharp. Finally, it also offers a reasonable resolution (230,000 pixels on 3 "does not necessarily bring it ...).
The processing seems solid, of course it's not magnesium like the 30D, but solid plastic.

At 3.4 fps and 9 RAWS, or about 170 JPEGs in a row, the continuous shooting mode is quite usable, but I would cover situations where fps are important, but rather access to my 30D, which offers 5fps.

Now we come to the film feature, since it was also one of the reasons why I bought the 500D. Given my experience with camcorders were rather unsatisfactory, I had the 500D since it is right.

The quality of the films is very good, I am using 720p. I have no use for Full HD, especially since it only runs with 20fps. One Minute Film consume at least 300MB. The clips here are in MOV format. Due to the high data rate, it is possible to compress them quite easily without major losses in quality.

The sound is unfortunately only recorded in mono, presumably for marketing reasons. But he is very good and clear.

The autofocus is generally rather slow and straight for lentils with pinion drive clearly audible. Manual focus is recommended - thanks to the good display but not a problem.
Overall, I have to stay only two things in the film function:

- Occasionally streaks occur. This phenomenon has been discussed on the Internet and that explains, not that the whole sensor is read. Something bad, because I would have hoped for but by the very large sensor quality benefits

- In certain situations, the "rolling shutter" effect occurs. This is due to the CMOS sensor, which can only be read out line by line. One should therefore be added to prevent it from rising too fast moving objects to the side.

As far as the limit of 29:59 minutes, we owe it to an EU regulation that aims at preventing possible that displace cameras with video function, the camcorder. While it is somewhere annoying, but honestly, how often you take the longer videos? My previous maximum was at 20 minutes, and that was an exception. Due to the high memory requirements of the videos I see it as what matters is not so bad, except it is in the era of video editing anyway easy to put together a longer movies on the computer. And with longer clips to cut out what's normally anyway.
At least I do not see this as problematic, particularly since a battery in any case provides only capacity for about 60 minutes shooting.

Since I still appreciate all the advantages such as easily controllable depth of field. While the camera does not provide this for yourself, but you can but as using an adapter to connect an older lens, where you set the aperture manually. My experiments with old M42 lenses here were from quite interesting. DOF is controlled in normal camcorders, with their small sensors (1 / 6 "or even 1 / 4, 5") not given.

All in all, I am quite happy with the 500D. There is really only a few things that bother me. These would, first, the small problems with video shooting, on the other hand, I find it inconvenient that the video mode has landed on the dial at the back so that I as a user of the semi-automatic (aperture / time) the wheel has almost always turn around to access them have. A direct integration would have been better, as is the ability to start recording with the shutter release and not by the Liveview button (if you're not careful, then the video starts with a movement forward ...). For that I would have gladly dispensed with the Fotofuktion in video mode, which is anyway rather sinnfrei because we have neither time nor can control aperture and one for recording a short film, "Blackout" has. In addition, some absurd values chosen for the setting, such as clear Himme f/16 at a shutter speed of 1 / 50 seconds. Unfavorable for moving subjects ...

My conclusion:
The 500D is almost an "egg Wollmilchsau, this time with one or other restriction, even to the division in higher real models from Canon, but I must say that this is the first" digit "is Canon EOS, which really convinced me . The 400D gave me too bad grip, the 450D could not get excited about that way. The 500D is a good DSLR and video camera with the ability to change lenses in one - and that counts for me.
Because of the rather slow progress in image quality and the minor problems I have to deduct a star, but a recommendation for the device!

PS:
At the movies can at least solve the problem with the artifacts. Since the last-used visual style is also used for the films, it may come at too high a setting on the edge of said artifacts. We recommend that you use for the filming of a picture style, where the sharpness is set to 0.

Camera class with a few limitations for digital slr camera body

I have bought with the camera after my Panasonic FZ28 Super zoom camera was broken and I had to return because of that.
I bought the camera with the 18-200 mm lens. Since I had done it before, almost 1 year with the Panasonic pictures, I was able to compare the well.
+ Unbeatable class is the Bilsstabilistor in the Canon lens. At 200 mmm Tele 1 / 15 second from the hand is pixelscharf possible.
+ The high ISO capability of the Canon is also class. ISO 1600 images are good. Here, the FC can not keep up 28th
+ Apart from the noise at high ISO values, I was quite surprised that the Panasonic picture quality is not noticeably worse than the Canon, particularly if the lens is fully turned up the CANON. Really bad is the Canon lens in the range of 135 mm.
+ Full HD videos are recorded at a frame rate of 20 fps. This is not really a restriction. Through a format converter you can increase the framerate to 30 fps. The images run the stable. Since the Canon selects a low compression ratio that goes without sacrificing quality.
+ The automatic programs of the Panasonic to work better than the Canon. My wife, who prefer to simply press the shutter button makes Biler worse, as the face of the Canon far too lame and is therefore unusable. I have some pictures in which the petals in the foreground sharp, the 5 children are behind the flower, however, blurred. The fully automatic mode, the Panasonic is the automatically selects the scene modes, better.
+ The Live View mode, of course, the Panasonic can not be used for the automatic programs in the CANON. Be brought into focus here must be done manually by pressing a button. For me as an "advanced amateur" is the seeker a good thing. My wife would prefer to watch on the monitor, which is not suitable due to the manual focusing for snapshots.
+ Image and sound quality of the videos are even better on the Canon. However, here again, the Panasonic deutlch bedienerfeundlicher. With the Canon I have an extra Tastdruck aware Sharpen. The automatic tracking of work as well as not. Defacto have to manually put sharp.

For the excellent camera, I give 4 stars. Since the user-friendliness is not on the level of a much cheaper Superzoomkamera, I subtract a star. A digital SLR for the consumer market must, in my opinion, also has a corresponding automatic feature.
